I stumbled upon a profound awareness while looking for hacks in ancient Indian scriptures.

There is so much out there to help adults be the best version of who they are. Lots of it has to do with mindset and habit shifts.

It takes a winding road to reach these life-saving ‘hacks’ and even longer to learn how to implement them. It makes fairly good sense that our children should have these important stones in their pockets from the start.

There was a pedagogy to make this happen before, in the times of Confucius and the Vedic times of India and also in anecdotes you hear about the great Greek teachers — Aristotle, Socrates.

We lost it. From Intuitive to Industrial. From Small Group to Big Groups. From Mentoring to Teaching. From tapping onto our wisdom as parents, to outsourcing the imparting of wisdom.

Don’t leave as yet. I am not using this as a dismal space to vent out. The path to wisdom is shining again. We are looking at habits and mindsets. We are scouring ancient scriptures for the secret, the key, the symbols.

I picked something up from my quest into the ancient Indian scriptures. In the scriptures, the physical body is Shiva (Masculine), the life force is Shakti (Female), and both of these enable the Jiva (Soul ) to grow.

If we translate this literally to our families — the father force (could be man or woman) gives the child a secure outer world, the mother force in the family gives the child a healthy inner world. If done correctly, the child (the soul) will bloom.

A correct understanding of our roles as ‘Shiva’ or ‘Shakti’ (or in some special instances — we need to be both) will give our children all the hacks they will need to navigate this fast changing world.
